So that we have a good idea for our wind sculpture before we start building it
Brainstorming ideas for a sculpture that shows the wind
1 - ENCOURAGE WILD IDEAS
2 - SUSPEND JUDGMENT
4 - BUILD ON IDEAS
5 - BE VISUAL
3 - GO FOR QUANTITY
Wild ideas can often give rise to creative leaps.
Don’t shoot down someone else’s idea.
Aim for as many ideas as possible.
Build and expand on the ideas of others.
Sketch your ideas.
Remember to think of a lot of possibilities.
There are many ways to approach the same concept.
Prompt:
Design a cow mug...
Step 1
Step 2
~1-1.5 hrs
Think back to the precedents you've looked at, and think of what inspiration you have for designing a wind sculpture.
Sketch your idea! Try to make a quick drawing that shows what the parts of your sculpture will be, and how it will move in the wind (will it spin, billow, flow in one direction?) What materials could you use for your sculpture?
Step 3
As a class: gather all your ideas on the whiteboard, clustering ideas that are similar. Get inspired by your classmates and keeping adding more ideas!
