1. Prepare the substrate Coffee grounds: rinse and dry them completely. Eggshells: wash, remove membrane, dry, and grind into very fine powder.
2. Heat the water Pour 240 ml water into a pot and heat on low heat (do not boil).
3. Dissolve gelatin Slowly sprinkle 24 g gelatin while stirring continuously until fully dissolved.
4. Add glycerin Mix in 10–12 g glycerin and stir well.
5. Add acetic acid: Add 5 ml vinegar/acetic acid and mix.
6. Add the substrate Stir in 15–25 g coffee grounds or eggshell powder. Mix until evenly distributed.
7. Cast the material Pour the mixture onto: silicone mat acrylic sheet plastic tray Spread evenly with a spatula.
8. Dry Let dry 24–72 hours at room temperature. Slow drying gives better strength.
9. Peel and condition Once dry: peel carefully optionally rub with a little vegetable oil to soften.
Material Behavior
More glycerin → softer and flexible
More substrate → stronger but less flexible
Thicker layer → more leather-like
